posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
The 13th and final volume of Hidetaka Kakei's Tona-Gura! romantic comedy manga shipped in Japan on Thursday. The manga ran in Jive's Comic Rush magazine, which switched from print to digital format in March. The manga had been running in Comic Rush since January 2004, and it continued in the magazine's online form until the August 2011 "issue."
The story of Tona-Gura! revolves around Kazuki and Yuuji, two childhood friends and neighbors. Yuuji moves back into his house after 10 years, and Kazuki, who has had a crush him all this time, has her depiction of Yuuji shattered when the two reunite.
The bookstore chains Comic Toranoana, Comic Zin, K Books and Mangaoh are each offering different special card and paper illustrations to commemorate the release.
The manga was adapted into a 13-episode television anime series by the anime studio Daume and director Tatsuya Abe (Dogs: Bullets & Carnage) in 2006.
