Police arrested a 36-year-old male company worker from Tokyo on suspicion of using the Share file-sharing software to upload anime and manga online without the copyright holders' permission on Wednesday. According to the Association of Copyright for Computer Software, the suspect uploaded the 208th episode of the Detective Conan anime and the sixth volume of the Kiss×sis manga between April 21 and June 7.
A police search of the suspect's home on June 7 led to the confiscation of his personal computer and hard disks. Police also found two other file-sharing sofware, Winny and Perfect Dark, on his computer as well as about 1,300 files uploadable via Share for a total of about one terabyte of data. According to the police investigation, the suspect said under deposition that he wanted lots of files from other people, so he also released files. The suspect was already arrested on June 7 for allegedly distributing child pornography and obscene videos via Share.
