U.S. Borders Chain Takes 6 Bookstores Off Closing List
posted on by Andrew Osmond
The American bookstore chain Borders filed a motion on Friday to take six outlets off its list of stores slated to close because of lease issues. The six stores taken off the list include four airport locations — two in Detroit Airport, one in Boston's Logan Airport and a fourth at Raleigh Durham Airport in North Carolina. The other two stores are in Westland, Michigan and Willimantic, Connecticut.
Meanwhile, the hearing for Borders's motion to hold store closing sales is set for June 20. According to the industry news source Publishers Weekly, "Borders will be looking for permission to conduct closing store sales and to approve procedures to select a liquidator. Objections to the motion must be filed by June 16."
Borders already closed 30%, or about 200, of its stores earlier this year.
