2 Viz Manga Nominated for Great Teen Graphic Novels

The American Library Association's Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) has updated its list of nominees for the 2012 Great Graphic Novels for Teens list. The list now includes two titles from North American anime and manga distributor Viz Media.
Title: Genkaku Picasso graphic novel (GN) 1
Creator: Usamaru Furuya
Japanese Publisher: Shueisha
Talented artist and high school student Hikari Hamura survives a terrible accident, only to be haunted by the ghost of a friend, Chiaki, who didn't. Chiaki tells Hikari that he must help the people around him with his art skills or die himself.
Title: Kurozakuro GN 1
Creator: Yoshinori Natsume
Japanese Publisher: Shogakukan
A bullying victim named Mikito wakes up one morning with super-strength. The catch: the strength comes from a monster that now lives within Mikito and craves violence.
The list previously included three titles from Japanese publisher Hakusensha and released in English by Tokyopop: Eensy-Weensy Monster GN 1, The Secret Notes of Lady Kanoko GN 1, and The Stellar Six of Gingacho GN 1.
