A Drifting Life-Based Film Tatsumi to Screen at Cannes
posted on by Gia Manry
The Cannes Film Festival in France announced its screenings for this year's May 11-22 event, including Eric Khoo's animated film adaptation of Yoshihiro Tatsumi's A Drifting Life autobiographical manga. The Tatsumi film will screen as part of the "Un Certain Regard" section of the event, which was founded in 1978 to encourage young talent. The "Prix Un Certain Regard" competition runs parallel to the event's main competition for the Palme d'Or.
Additionally, Yatterman/MPD-Psycho director Takashi Miike's Ichimei — a live-action 3D film remake of the 1962 film Seppuku (Harakiri) — and Naomi Kawase's Hanezu no Tsuki will screen at the event. Both films are competing for the Palme d'Or award.
