AKB48's "Beginner" Ships Over 1 Million CD Singles (Updated)

The Recording Industry Association of Japan certified that the all-female idol group AKB48 shipped over 1 million copies of its "Beginner" CD single since the CD went on sale on October 27. It is AKB48's first million-copy single, and Japan's first certified million-copy single since Masafumi Akikawa's "Sen no Kaze ni Natte" in August 2007. "Beginner" sold 826,989 copies in its first week and 63,504 copies in its second week.
