Mayo Chiki! Romantic Comedy Light Novels Get Anime
posted on by Egan Loo
The wraparound jacket band on volumes of Hajime Asano's Mayo Chiki! light novel series has announced that an anime adaptation has been green-lit. In the school romantic comedy, Subaru Konoe is a beautiful boy who serves as a butler to a classmate named Kanade Suzutsuki. However, another boy named Kinjirō Sakamachi accidentally discovers Subaru's secret — Subaru is really a girl.
Asano started the light novel series last year, and the fifth volume is shipping this month. Seiji Kikuchi illustrates the novels.
Another artist, Niito, has been drawing a manga version in Media Factory's Monthly Comic Alive magazine since July, and the first compiled book volume of the manga is also shipping this month. (The magazine had indicated that an important Mayo Chiki! announcement will be made in the next issue next Wednesday.) In addition, a separate comic spinoff called Mayo Mayo! will launch in Kadokawa Shoten's Nyantype magazine this fall.
