Silly version of folk tales is 1st work from illustrator Keiko Sootome to be animated
Baka Mukashi Banashi (Silly Folk Tales), the upcoming picture book from illustrator Keiko Sootome, will inspire an anime DVD that will ship next spring. The book itself, which tells silly, darkly humorous versions of classic Japanese folklore, will ship from T.O. Entertainment's TO Books imprint later this year.
Over 600,000 copies of Sootome's books are already in print, but Baka Mukashi Banashi will be the first work from Sootome to be animated. Sootome is creating the picture book with writing by screenwriter Toru Hosokawa (Coji-Coji).
