The North American film and video distributor Funimation has announced that the live-action films Ichi and Mushishi will be screened at the 8th Annual Asian Film Festival of Dallas on July 17 and July 22, respectively. In Ichi, director Fumihiko Sori (Ping Pong, Vexille - 2077 Isolation of Japan) re-imagines the famous blind swordmaster character Zatoichi as a female fighter played by Haruka Ayase (Oblivion Island: Haruka and the Magic Mirror). In Mushi-Shi, Katsuhiro Ōtomo (Akira, Steamboy, Memories) adapts Yuki Urushibara's Mushishi supernatural fantasy manga that Hiroshi Nagahama had previously made into a 26-episode television anime series. Joe Odagiri (Azumi, SHINOBI - Heart Under Blade) plays a wandering master of mushi, the ethereal organisms that affect all living creatures .
