Juné Manga to Print Boys-Love Works on Pre-Order Demand
posted on by Egan Loo
The North American publisher Digital Manga Publishing has announced that its Juné Manga Boys-love imprint is launching a Pre-Order/Demand for Publication Web-A-Thon program. In this program, readers can pre-order from a selection of upcoming Juné Manga titles that have been either slated far into Juné's future schedule, or delayed. If enough readers place pre-orders for a particular title to meet a "minimum dollar amount goal," Juné will print and ship this title to these readers before its release to the general public.
The first example of this program is the first volume of Jinko Fuyuno's All You Need is Love text novel. If US$3,500 in pre-orders are placed by September 30, Juné promises to do an advance print run for an October 30 release — three months before the January 27 release date for the general public.
The North American anime distributor AnimEigo once implemented a similar program for pre-orders of DVD boxes, except it used the number of pre-orders to set the price for early customers.
