Viz Adds Bokurano & I'll Give It My All...Tomorrow Manga
posted on by Egan Loo
Viz Media has revealed in a media advisory on Thursday that its new online English version of Shogakukan's Monthly Ikki magazine will include Mohiro Kitoh's Bokurano: Ours psychological drama manga and Shunju Aono's I'll Give It My All... Tomorrow (Ore wa Mada Honki Dashitenai Dake) comedy manga. Both manga series ran in the original Ikki print magazine in Japan.
Bokurano tells the story of 15 children who unsuspectedly agree to test a real-life robot battle in which the ironic price of victory is death. The Bokurano manga inspired Gonzo's 2007 television anime series by the same name, although director Hiroyuki Morita acknowledged that he disliked the original manga and changed the story with the permission of Kitoh. Kitoh also created the Shadow Star Narutaru and Vendemiaire no Tsubasa manga. Dark Horse Comics released Shadow Star in North America.
I'll Give It My All... Tomorrow centers on Shizuo, a hapless 41-year-old father of a 17-year-old girl. Shizuo dreams of being a manga creator while spending his days writing and working at a menial part-time job.
Viz's Ikki website already launched with Daisuke Igarashi's Children of the Sea, and it will eventually add Natsume Ono's House of Five Leaves (Saraiya goyô) and Q Hayashida's Dorohedoro.
