posted on by Egan Loo
Volume 18 of the official Sonorama Novels/Asahi Novels Monthly Hotline email newsletter has reportedly announced on Tuesday that an anime adaptation of Yuichi Sasamoto's Mini-Skirt Uchū Kaizoku (Mini-Skirt Space Pirates) space-opera adventure novels has been green-lit. The first Mini-Skirt Uchū Kaizoku volume was published last October as the first book under the brand-new Asahi Novels imprint, and the second novel, Mini-Skirt Uchū Kaizoku 2: Ōgon no Yūrei-Sen (Mini-Skirt Space Pirates 2: The Golden Ghost Ship) will ship in Japan on April 20.
The story centers around Marika, a spirited high school girl who keeps herself busy with the space yacht club and her part-time job at a high-class retro café. Suddenly, two men who claim to be subordinates of her dead father appear and demand that she assume command of the space pirate ship Benten Maru. According to the privateer ship's compact that was made during a war of independence a century ago, the ship must be inherited by the captain's next direct descendant. Marika finds herself embarking on a new life as a space pirate.
