Twilight Director Says She Has Not Heard of Anime Plans
posted on by Egan Loo
The MTV Movies Blog asked Catherine Hardwicke, the director of the live-action film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight high school vampire drama novel, about plans for an anime version, and she replied, "I haven't heard any plans yet." During the audio commentary on her film's DVD (which was released on Saturday), the following exchange took place:
Actor Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen): I look Asian in this scene. I do, I look like an anime character.Hardwicke: Hey, I think there's going to be an anime version of this in Japan. So you will be an anime character.
However, Hardwicke clarified that she was speaking off-the-cuff and was not revealing any plans. She did joke with MTV Movies Blog that if a hypothetical anime were to be made, she would agree to return to the franchise. (She is not currently slated to direct the films for the remaining books in Meyer's novel series.) Hardwicke said, "I think that's a cool idea, maybe. Maybe we can do that. That would be so fun; I'd love to direct that." She added, "Let's stir it up. We'll find some cool way to do it, if we do it."
