USA Today Booklist: February 2-8: Naruto Blitz Begins
posted on by Egan Loo
On February 3, Viz Media officially launched the follow-up to its highly successful 2007 Naruto Nation campaign with 11 new volumes of Masashi Kishimoto's ninja manga shipping in the next three months. The first four books under this initiative, volumes 34 through 37, made an immediate impact on the USA Today newspaper's list of the top 150 bestselling books for the week of February 2 to February 8. Volume 37 sold the strongest of the the quartet, ranking at #52. It was immediately followed by volume 36 at #53, and then remaining two books, volume 35 at #55 and volume 34 at #57.
This ranking, with the last volume selling the best, is a reversal from last week, when it was volume 34 that had sold the best. Based just on early sales, it was already at #155 and barely missed making that week's list. The other three volumes followed in order.
