posted on by Egan Loo
The live-action drama version of Yuu Watase's Absolute Boyfriend (Zettai Kareshi) romantic comedy manga will return this spring in a Japanese television special. 24-year-old Mokomichi Hayami (Densha Otoko, Gokusen live-action dramas) will reprise his role as the "ikemen (handsome) lover robot" Night Tenjō, while 23-year-old Saki Aibu (Doraemon: Nobita no Shin Makai Daibōken - Shichinin no Mahōtsukai) will play the young office lady who accidentally received him.
Also returning is the third side of the love triangle, as played by 24-year-old Hiro Mizushima (Hana Zakari no Kimi-tachi e: Ikemen Paradise, Lovely Complex). Ryōko Kuninaka (Densha Otoko) and Asahi Uchida (Angel, Atagoal wa Neko no Mori) join the cast as the genius scientist and her assistant who help reactivate Night after the end of the original drama series.
The original drama series ran from April to June of last year. In North America, Viz Media serialized the manga in Shojo Beat magazine from its premiere issue in 2005 until the manga's ending in 2007.
