A Penguin's Troubles Kids' Film Green-Lit for Fall (Updated)
posted on by Egan Loo
A banner at one of Shogakukan's booths in the Jisedai World Hobby Fair Winter '09 revealed that a film has been green-lit for Yūji Nagai's A Penguin's Troubles (Penguin no Mondai) manga this fall. This children's gag comedy title deals with the everyday life of a penguin named Beckham Kinoshita. Beckham happens to go to Kirikabu Elementary School with humans and crave "Mac" hamburgers and fries. The manga already inspired a television anime series that has been airing in Japan since last April.
The Jisedai (Next Generation) World Hobby Fair Winter '09 toured four different Japanese cities on four weekends from January 18 to February 8. It showcased the latest games, toys, anime, and manga for both boys and girls. Besides A Penguin's Troubles, the fair advertised this fall's film adaptation of Shigenobu Matsumoto's Duel Masters manga, which in turn is based on the collectible card game from Wizards of the Coast and Takara Tomy.
