White Knight Chronicles Prequel Manga Posted Online

The official Japanese website for Level-5's Shirokishi Monogatari: Inishie no Kodō (White Knight Chronicles: The Pulse of the Ancient Times) role-playing game has posted a web-exclusive prequel manga called Shirokishi Monogatari: Episode 0 Dogma Senki (White Knight Chronicles Episode 0: Dogma War Chronicle) on Wednesday. (In the linked page, select the "Special" button on the top right.) The manga uses the Adobe Flash-based eBook Viewer tool from Papyless.
Takashi Ikeda oversaw the story for this prequel, and Yuko Sato draws the actual manga in collaboration with Media Factory's Comic Alive editorial department. The story takes place 10,000 years before the actual game's story, in an era embroiled by war and chaos. The manga tells the story of another White Knight who predates the White Knight hero character of the game. The game will ship in Japan on December 25, but a North American release date has not been announced yet. Level-5 is also working with Studio Ghibli (Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind, Only Yesterday, Spirited Away) on the Ni no Kuni: The Another World role-playing game for the Nintendo DS game console. Level-5's own Professor Layton puzzle games are being animated as Professor Layton: The First Movie, a film that TOHO will be distribute in January 2010.
