Aurora Adds Tengu-Jin, Queen of Ragtonia Fantasy Manga
posted on by Egan Loo
Aurora Publishing, the American subsidiary of Japan's Ohzora Publishing, is listing two new josei fantasy titles for early 2009: Tengu-Jin from Sumomo Yumeka (The Day I Become a Butterfly, Same Cell Organism) and Queen of Ragtonia from Chika Shiomi (Canon, Night of the Beasts, Yurara). Both titles were serialized in Shodensha's quarterly fantasy magazine, Gensō Anthology.
Yumeka's Tengu-Jin deals with the trials of the gods who descend upon our modern-day world. Under her Mizu Sahara pen name, Yumeka also drew the manga adaptations of Makoto Shinkai's The voices of a distant star and The Place Promised in Our Early Days anime. The two volumes of Ragtonia center on Faruna, a princess who is forced to flee when mages sudden appear and attack her country of Farushia. During her escape, Faruna encounters Karudasu of Ragtonia, who promises to grant her power if she has the courage to take his hand.
