Haruhi-chan, Churuya-san Parody Manga Get Anime Shorts
posted on by Egan Loo
The October issue (on sale on August 26) of Kadokawa's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine will announce that Puyo's The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya-chan (Suzumiya Haruhi-chan no Yūutsu) four-panel gag manga and Eretto's Nyorōn Churuya-san parody manga will both be animated as web shorts. The Kadokawa Channel on Google's YouTube video-sharing service will distribute the shorts online. Puyo has drawn The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya-chan manga as the "official gag manga" of Nagaru Tanigawa and Noizi Itō's The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya light novels for both Shōnen Ace and Kadokawa's The Sneaker magazine since July of last year.
Eretto's Nyorōn Churuya-san manga centers around a super-deformed version of the Haruhi character Tsuruya. Eretto currently draws the Boo Boo KagaBoo four-panel manga parody of Kagami Yoshimizu's Lucky Star manga in another Kadokawa magazine, Monthly Comp Ace magazine.
North America's Yen Press will be releasing both the original Haruhi Suzumiya light novels and Gaku Tsugano's manga adaptation. Bandai Entertainment has released the first anime adaptation of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya in North America.
