Tsukiji Uogashi Sandaime manga opens as the only manga- or anime-related film at the Japanese box office during the June 2–8 weekend. The original cuisine manga tells the story of Shuntarō Akagi, a former bank office worker whose life is transformed one day. He inherits a third-generation fishmonger business at Tokyo's famed Tsukiji Fish Market from his wife's father. The
Tsukiji Uogashi Sandaime film earned the equivalent of US$471,974 in 259 theaters to land at #6 on
Kogyo Tsushinsha's rankings and #7 on
Box Office Mojo's chart.
