Nausicaä Cosplayers Win Japan WCS Round

Japanese cosplay duo Hasse, which is composed of Kikiwan and Naoki Shigure, has won the Tokyo preliminary round of the 2008 World Cosplay Summit. Using costumes from Hayao Miyazaki's Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, the two competed against nine other groups for the right to represent Japan at the August 3 international finals. Hasse also won last year's Japan round, when Hasse's costumes were Light and Misa from Death Note, and ultimately placed second in the final competition.

While the other 12 countries competing at the WCS will each contribute only one team, Japan is fielding two, with the second national qualifier set to be held in Osaka on July 13.
