Megumi Anime about Girl Abducted by N. Korea Posted

Video about Megumi Yokota now downloadable for free in 4 languages

The Japanese government's Headquarters for the Abduction Issue has posted on its website the Megumi anime about a Japanese girl abducted by North Korea. The 25-minute video is available in Japanese, English, Chinese, or Korean and in Windows Media Player or RealPlayer format. Megumi Yokota was abducted by North Korea in 1977 when she was 13 years old. North Korea acknowledges abducting her and at least 12 other Japanese residents during the 1970s and the 1980s, but the country has not provided any conclusive evidence on her fate and most of the others.

Kouichi Yamadera (Cowboy Bebop's Spike, Donald Duck's Japanese voice) leads an all-star cast that also includes Rica Fukami (Sailor Moon's Sailor Venus, Macross Plus' Myung), Minami Takayama (Detective Conan's Conan, Escaflowne's Dilandau), Shinichirō Miki (Initial D's Takumi, Escaflowne's Allen) and narrator Michio Hazama (Space Battleship Yamato's narrator, Macross' Global). Hidekazu Ohmori directed the work, and Hideki Mitsui (Magikano, Sol Bianca: The Legacy) scripted. The anime is based on Souichi Moto's Megumi documentary manga.
