The Japanese market research firm Oricon has
announced its list of Japan's bestselling DVDs for 2007, and the
Death Note/Death Note: The Last Name live-action movie set and
Studio Ghibli's
Tales from Earthsea are #10 and #11, respectively, on the list. The
Death Note set sold 251,347 copies, and Tales of Earthsea's standard edition sold 240,952 copies, which makes those two releases Japan's bestselling manga- or anime-related DVDs of 2007. (That is not counting #1's
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End with
Doraemon guest star Johnny Depp or #5's
Spider-Man 3, the movie whose original comic also inspired a Japanese live-action robot series and
manga.)
