Manga Panels in New York City, San Francisco Museums

Brigid Alverson of Publishers Weekly's PW Comics Week and MangaBlog will be moderating a panel on manga at New York City's Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art on Monday, December 3 at 7:00 p.m. The panel will include Del Rey Manga Associate Publisher Dallas Middaugh, Kinokuniya New York manager John Fuller, translator Mari Morimoto, and designer Brad Foltz. Jason Thompson, the writer of Manga: The Complete Guide and an editor of the Otaku USA magazine, will present a "Manga Conquers America: The Whole Story" talk and book signing at San Francisco's Cartoon Art Musuem on Thursday, December 6 at 7:00 p.m. The show-and-tell will be an expanded version of Thompson's "How Manga Conquered America" article in Wired magazine.
Thompson also spoke on ninjaconsultant's podcast and with About.com's Deb Aoki in an interview. IMAGI Animation Studios interviewed fellow manga expert and Osamu Tezuka's main translator Frederik L. Schodt about Mighty Atom/Astro Boy as part of the company's promotion for the 2009 Astro Boy film. (Select "What's New" after the linked splash page.)
