Christmas Special Announced for Pénélope Kids' Anime

The book publisher Iwasaki Shoten has announced a new children's anime special, "Pénélope's Christmas Party," that is based on the European Pénélope picture books from Georg Hallensleben and Ann Gutman. The books recount the adventures of a naive three-year-old blue koala and her friends. The Japanese public broadcaster NHK-Educational will broadcast the five-minute short on December 15 and 22 at 5:40 p.m. Nippon Animation had previously animated the books' characters in the 2006 Pénélope tête en l'air (Ukkari Pénélope or Pénélope, Head in the Clouds) series of 26 five-minute episodes.
