Kansai Universities expand Curriculum to Include Anime, Manga, and Video Games

Several Kansai universities add anime and manga to their course curriculums.
An article published in the Daily Yomiuri talks about several universities in the Kansai region that have started to offer courses and concentrations in aspects of Japanese pop culture.
Students can now take a variety of courses on anime, manga, and video games, from their history all the way to their storylines and art. Degrees are also offered in a variety of these fields, such as Video Game Development, and Manga With Storylines.
Takarazuka University of Art and Design has even added two well-known veterans of the entertainment industry to their faculty roster-- filmmaker Yōichi Sai, and animator Leiji Matsumoto.
So far, Kansai is the only region in Japan to offer so much education in visual media-based pop culture.
