Del Rey to Censor Akamatsu Manga

Ken Akamatsu has expressed surprise and amusement in his webdiary over the degree of censorship being applied to the North American release of Mahou Sensei Negima. According to Akamatsu, Del Rey's localized release of his manga series will have exposed breasts and bare bums covered by painted on towels and underwear respectively.

Akamatsu commented, "It's strict, like in Korea years ago. Of course, the sexy scenes between jr. high students have been given considerable forethought. Now, isn't it that America is stricter than europe?."

Del Rei manager Dallas Middaugh informed Anime on DVD that only 10 panels of Negima would be edited, and no panels in their other initial mangas (Gundam Seed, Tsubasa and xxxHOLiC) would be edited in any way.
