Tokyopop first publisher to sell manga in Walmart
According to TOKYOPOP, they are the first manga publisher to get their titles sold in the Wal-Mart chain. 100 Wal-Mart outlets will test drive the TOKYOPOP titles though this holiday season.
The deal between TOKYOPOP and Wal-Mart was brokered by their recently appointed Vice President of Sales & Distribution, Steve Kleckner, who had worked with Wal-Mart and other major retailers at his previous job with Electro Source.
TOKYOPOP has also expanded into four other mass-market chains, in the closing months of 2003 and opening monthes of 2004 TOKYOPOP titles have appeared or will appear at Best Buy, Fred Meyer, ShopKo and New England's Stop & Shop.
