Forum to illustrate the potential of Anime and Manga for cultural and artistic expression.
The Japan Times reports that on March 10th, the Agency for Cultural Affairs and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations will host a weeklong international forum on Anime and Manga.
The forum is geared to illustrate the potential of animated films and manga as a common language in terms of cultural and artistic expression between Japan and other South East Asian Countries(ASEAN).There will be showings of anime and manga, as well as discussions involving Susan Napier, a professor of Japanese literature and culture at the University of Texas, and Yoshiyuki Tomino, creator of the popular animation series "Mobile Suit Gundam. Other industry representatives and artists will be in attendance as well.
ASEAN consists of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Details are available at (03) 3465-6280 or on the website CG Arts.
