Super deformed Patlabor series in Theatres with Patlabor 3
Production I.G has fleshed out some of the details regarding Mamoru Oshii's latest Anime project for ANN. News of the project was first arrived in North America by way of Japanese website Manga Zoo.
While Oshii has not been directly involved with the Patlabor 3 project, he has created 3 animated shorts based on the Patlabor Universe. Oshii wrote the script for the series and produced all the audio aspects for the entire series.
The Super Deformed "Mini-Pat" (and not "Mini Police Car" as it has been referred to elsewhere), which has been animated so that the characters look like hand-painted cel art puppets, will premiere when the 13 minute episode one airs in theatres as a bonus feature with the Japanese theatrical release of the 3rd Patlabor movie next spring.
All three episodes will be distributed in Japan by Bandai Visual.
