Selling for above retail price on E-Bay, #1 DVD in the nation
According to ICv2 the Akira Special Edition DVD, Limited Edition Tin has sold out at the wholesale level only one week after its release and retailers expect to sell out within a week or so. As the name implies, quantities are limited on this DVD and when retailers stock is exhausted, there will be no more.
Pioneer's $1 million restoration project is selling so well that it ranked as the number 1 selling DVD in the United States last week and is selling on E-bay at higher than retail prices (take a look here, but buy it at our sponsors for less than retail, Anime Castle and Right Stuf.
Pioneer told ICv2 way back in June that they had sold their entire run of the limited edition DVD a full two weeks before the order cut-off date.
The good news for would be buyers, is that Akira is also available on standard DVD and VHS, both of which are widescreen (anamorphic for the DVD) and are not limited production runs.
