Metropolis in Theatres in Japanese?

Reports from Fantasia that Metropolis will be shown in Japanese in North American Theatres.
According to some sources at this week's international premiere of Metropolis at Fantasia, the same version of the film, in Japanese with English subtitles, will be used for the North American tehatrical release. This seems to contradict earlier statements that the "international release" would be in English (note the possible difference between an international & North American release).
While one insider stated in private that the film would definitely arrive in theatres in Japanese, official reps would neither confirm nor deny the reports over the phone.
