Animation World Magazine is currently running an article by noted Anime expert Fred Paton. The article, entitled "Anime Theatrical Features" discusses theatrical releases of Anime features in America, or rather the lack thereof.
While mainly written for American fans of mainstream of animation, long time Anime fans may find the article interesting as well as informative.
