AX Charity Auction raised $68 000

As with previous years Anime Expo held a charity auction for the benefit of the City of Hope Medical charity. Spokesman John Taylor had hoped that the auction would raise more then the $21 000 (all figures in US dollars) that the 1999 auction. The final tally, 3 times more than in 1999,was $68 000.
Many of the items were donated by the guests of honor, including two pictures by Akemi Takada (character designer of Patlabor, Kimagura Orange Road) which went for $5,200 and $16,000.
