A-kon announces 10th anniversary features
posted on
In a public statement yesterday, the staff of the anime convention A-Kon announced several new guests and features for this year's convention. Among the scheduled guests are Mari Iijima, the original voice of Lynn Minmay (who may do a concert), Ken Meseroll, the American voice of Derek Wildstar from Star Blazers, mega-fan Lea Hernandez, and parody film producers Sherbert Productions.
The staff also announced a special 10th anniversary anime cookbook that will be given away with pre-registration packs (and can be had at a small cost to others). Submissions can be sent to Joy Riddle at [email protected], and if your recipie is accepted, you get a free copy sent to you even if you can't attend the convention. (Deadline 4/1/99)
Also among the announcements was a special J-pop room, filled with associated music videos and songs from Japanese stars, real cash prizes for costume players, and a live-action roleplaying game entitled "Vampire: The Dark Ages - A Night at Castle Schriber".
But perhaps the most exciting announcement (okay, so we're tooting our own horns a bit) is a new game show put together in association with us at ANN! Anime Match Game, based on the show on cable's Game Show Network, is sort of a fun combination of Family Feud and Hollywood Squares. To find out more and take part in the action, click here!
