TV Anime Short Mayonaka no Boitore Danshi Enters 2nd Season

posted on by Kim Morrissy
Anime about male voice actors in training first premiered in January

The official website for AMG MUSIC's Mayonaka no Boitore Danshi (Midnight Voice Training Boys) television and net anime short series announced on Tuesday that the anime is commencing its second season. The first episode of the second season, or episode 14, aired on TV Kanagawa on April 5, 24:55 (effectively April 6, 12:55 am).

The first anime series aired from January to March on TV Kanagawa. It also streamed on Nico Nico Douga.

The story is set in a voice training school. The school's charismatic instructor is referred to as "Emperor Moriyama." He is the 64th successor of the "Voice Eden" method of voice acting, which has a 2,000 year history. He is tutoring six boys in his method. After each lesson, the boys forget how they learned the techniques, so only Emperor Moriyama knows the secrets.

Emperor Moriyama is voiced by veteran voice actor Toshiyuki Morikawa, who is well known for playing Sephiroth in the Final Fantasy series, Dante in Devil May Cry, and Griffith in the 1997 Berserk TV anime. The series is written and produced by AMG MUSIC, a training school for actors. Cocokana designed the characters, and Shinichi Aoki storyboarded and produced the illustrations.

The anime was preceded by a radio and online show called Maō Baramon to Boitore Danshi in 2016, which broadcast on Radio Osaka and Nico Nico Douga. The series also had a "voice training" theme.
