On November 11, Japan celebrated National Pocky Day to honor the world-famous sweet-and-crunchy snack. However, otaku have their own reasons to celebrate as well.
From the 2009 anime K-ON, Azusa Nakano—or Azu-nyan—celebrates her birthday today. As such, a string of celebratory goods have been prepared for the occasion. The t-shirt pictured above comes in medium, large and extra large sizes and goes for 4,320 yen (about US$35).
Other products include a guitar harmonizer, a phone case, a pocket watch, a star necklace, a wall scroll, a set of pins, a mug and coaster set, a special hoodie, and a short cushion.
These items are being sold at the online store Animaru. Those who purchase more than 5,000 yen (US$41) will get a special metal memorial birthday card. This birthday campaign ends on December 7.
Japanese idol Reina Tanaka also celebrates her birthday this year. She is now 26 years old.
