posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Survival action manga creator Junya Inoue was elected as tourism ambassador for the city of Shimanto in Kōchi prefecture. The city is the hometown for the Btooom! creator. The city has a population of roughly 36,000 and is the home of Nakamura Castle, Dragonfly Natural Park, and several prominent shrines.
Inoue;s Btooom! manga and anime adaptation follows a group of strangers who find themselves taking part in a survival game on a deserted island. Ryōta Sakamoto is a 22-year-old gamer who finds himself on the island and realizes the games mechanics are like a real-life version of the online game he used to play.
Tokyo's Shinjuku ward elected Godzilla as its tourism ambassador earlier this year. Slam Dunk's Takehiko Inoue also holds the title of Japan-Spain Goodwill Ambassador.
