Idol Duo ClariS Finally Reveals Themselves, Kinda
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
On July 31, the mysterious idol duo ClariS held their first solo concert at the Zepp Tokyo music hall where they revealed more about themselves than ever before. The pair has managed to maintain a successful singing career without ever revealing their true identities. The sold-out concert marked the first time the girls could be seen more or less clearly, but they still wore veils obscuring their faces for the 17-song concert.
The duo ClariS debuted in 2010 with original members Alice and Clara. The pair performed a large number of anime theme songs, from Oreimo to Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Nisemonogatari. However, their real identities remained a mystery, they never revealed their appearance in public, and were always represented by anime-style drawings. They managed to perform at the "2014 New Year's Festival Hajimari no Yokan…" without revealing themselves.
The girls met in elementary school, but Alice has since departed to focus on studies. ClariS decided to continue with new member Karen (although they didn't change the name to Claren...) last year. This version also performed in public at the "Lisani! Live-5" festival at Tokyo's Nippon Budōkan arena on January 25, but still kept themselves hidden.
Since regrouping, ClariS performed the ending themes for Tsukimonogatari and Classroom Crisis.
