Elementary Idol Group 'Girlfriend's' Producer Bans Fan From Future Events After Incident
posted on by Chris Nishijima
An official statement was released by the producer of the idol group "Girlfriend" this past week in response to an incident which occurred during their recent BBQ and games meet and greet event. The event, which was held on September 23, was meant to serve an enjoyable time between the group members and their fans. Despite this, one fan was found repeatedly harassing the girls of the group, in ways such as "repeatedly and intentionally touching" the members and "attempting to forcibly monopolize the members' time."
Despite being asked multiple times to stop this inappropriate behavior, the fan in question continued to act in this manner. When questioned by the event's coordinators after the event, they were able to ascertain from his responses that his actions had been intentional and that he had no desire to reflect upon what he had done. According to the group's producer, he even seemed to suggest that he had a right to spend more time with them than other fans and make physical contact with them because he had come a long way to see them.
For those who may not be familiar with the idol group in question, "Girlfriend" is an idol group that is made up solely of elementary school students. The group's producer "Gussan" expressed in the letter that they hope that they have made the rules for interacting with the group as clear as possible, so that they can continue to cultivate their group into one where the girls can have a healthy growing experience.
The group and its management hope to move on from this event and have asked their fans to continue to attend their events, but to keep their rules in mind when interacting with the group in any way. The entire letter can be read online on the group's official blog page.
