.moe Internet Domain To Hold Logo Contest
posted on by Eric Stimson
If you're a graphic designer, typographer, or graffiti artist hungry for work and experience, and you feel that you have a deep appreciation for the essence of "moe," Interlink has a task for you.
Interlink Co., a Japanese Internet service provider, is developing the domain .moe. Hoping to capture the essence of the recently innvogue Japanese aesthetic, it's sponsoring a contest to design its logo. If you feel you can distill "moe" into those four characters — ".moe" — send your ideas to [email protected]. Accepted file formats include JPG (in high-resolution) or PNG or the programs Illustrator or Photoshop. The deadline is May 6. If your logo is chosen, you'll get a ¥2,000,000 prize (equivalent to $19,688). In exchange, you'll have to sign over the rights to Interlink and you won't get your file back.
The contest is open to Japan only. The logo will be used on the domain's home page and printed materials, but may appear in other media (news sites, TV, newspapers) and merchandise in the future. The winner will be announced on May 13.
