Kickstarter Appeal to Fund 2nd Volume of Story of Lee Manga
posted on by Andrew Osmond
A Kickstarter appeal has been launched to help fund the second volume of the manga The Story of Lee, by Japanese artist Chie Kutsuwada (based in Britain) and British writer Sean Michael Wilson (based in Japan). The story is about the relationship between a Scottish man and a Hong Kong woman. The first book was published in 2011, and a free sample is available here.
From the Kickstart announcement:
Volume one of THE STORY OF LEE was published in 2011, and then we saw that: Lee, living in Hong Kong, meets Matt, a fine young Scot. Their relationship becomes stronger by the day, despite their deep cultural differences. But there is Lee's Dad to contend with who views this affair very suspiciously. And there is another contender for Lee's heart, a Chinese young man, whose jealousy takes on twinges of xenophobia. Two worlds collide creating good sparks... and bad ones. And now we are working on VOLUME 2, in which Lee and Mat move to Scotland and proceed to find out about the reality of living together, being in a different culture and of pursuing your dreams. We are working on the script and art now, and building up volume 2, bit by bit.
The Kickstarter target is $10,000, with various prizes for pledgers (see page). The appeal will run until Saturday August 31. As of writing, it has received 10 backers and $445.
