Anime, manga, and software studios have been marking April 1 with a slew of April Fool's spoofs and jokes. Here are some of those that have cropped up this year — click on the thumbnail images to see the original!

Final Fantasy XIV

The official blog for the MMMORPG leaked the next playable race — not the rabbit-like Viera and "croco...gator...lizard-like" Bangaa from Final Fantasy XII, but the fused Viangaa

Hyperdimension Neptunia

The official website for the anime "announced" a new Neptune: the Hyper Dimension Game Machine" gaming console debuting in July.

I'll Give It My All... Tomorrow

The live-action film of Shunju Aono's manga announced that lead actor Shinichi Tsutsumi has dropped out. Fortunately, his understudy has stepped in — real-life manga creator and actor Yoshikazu Ebisu.

Imaichi Moenai Musume

The official "Imaichi Moenai Musume" website posted an image that said "I'm going to quit Imiachi Moenai Musume!"

Itsuwaribito

Itsuwaribito creator Yuuki Iinuma posted a fake blog entry announcing that the 20th volume of the manga will bundle an anime DVD from "Studio Gyakusaw." The blog contained a mock DVD cover and character designs.



Ixion Saga DT

The official website for the series "announced" that Ixion Saga DT was getting a second season, a film would open tomorrow, a live action film was in the works, a special symposium was being held every day starting next week, and a new series would feature Kon Hokaze 10 years later.

Kin-iro Mosaic x Yuyushiki

The official website for the Kin-iro Mosaic television anime series "announced" a collaboration with the upcoming Yuyushiki television anime series.

Kodansha

Kodansha opened a site for a new "Ika" (interactive Kodansha Archives) digital e-reading device. Kodansha describes the device as the "world's first living/organic e-book device for personal use." Ika is the Japanese word for squid.

Little Busters!/Kud Wafter

Game developer Key announced an iPad app for the piano score of music from Little Busters! and Kud Wafter. (Key is really selling an album of piano music from the two titles on April 26.)
