The BBC website reports that a further 37 HMV stores are due to shut, on top of 66 stores already announced to be closing. This means that almost half of the 219 HMV stores in the UK are now due to close. The closures will take place 'in the next four to six weeks.'
However, the BBC also reports that earlier in February, 'the chain signed trading agreements with the majority of its suppliers, ensuring that new stock will continue to be on sale in stores.'
The HMV stores on the new list of branches shutting down are the following:
Ashford, Basildon, Bolton, Cheltenham, East Kilbride, Enfield, Folkestone, Glasgow Argyle, Gloucester, Grimsby, Hatfield Galleria, Heathrow (Terminal 5 - Departure Level, Terminal 1, Terminal 3, Terminal 4), Hemel Hempstead, High Wycombe, Isle of Wight, Lancaster, Leadenhall, Mansfield, Middlesbrough, Newbury, Newcastle Silverlink, Newport, Nuneaton, Redditch, Salisbury, Scarborough, Southport, Stafford, Staines, Stockport, Swindon, Taunton, Torquay, Woking.
