Composer Yoko Kanno Holds Open Audition for Male Singer
posted on by Sarah Nelkin
Yoko Kanno, the acclaimed musical composer of Cowboy Bebop, Macross Frontier, Escaflowne, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, and other anime, is collaborating on a song for a non-profit cultural promotion, and the producers are holding an audition for a male vocalist. Kanno is composing and producing "Merry Song" with lyrics by Hiroshi Ichikura, and Naoki Imamura will direct the music video for Piano Inc.
The audition is for men under 25, and applicants will be accepted regardless of residence (including overseas) or experience. The winner will record the song in February, and he will also be filmed for the song's music video and perform at an event.
Applications must be submitted (in English or Japanese) with a resume and a photo of the candidate. Submissions will be accepted until January 30. An instrumental version of the song is available at the audition website.
