Nintendo Game Designer/Producer Shigeru Miyamoto Turns 60

Friday marked the 60th birthday of video game designer/producer and head of the Nintendo Entertainment Analysis and Development department Shigeru Miyamoto, who was born on November 16, 1952 in Kyoto, Japan. Miyamoto is most famous for his many works for Nintendo, including the Mario, Donkey Kong, Star Fox, Pikmin, and Legend of Zelda games. After he graduated college, he began work at Nintendo in 1977.
Miyamoto most recently received a Prince of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities in Oviedo, Spain on October 26. Spain's Crown Prince Felipe personally gave Miyamoto the award.
On a related note, Nintendo's newest gaming console, the Wii U, will be released in North America on November 18, and on December 8 in Japan.
