150 million extra lives gained after game arrived in Europe, Australia, U.S.
Nintendo revealed that over 36.4 billion coins have been collected in its New Super Mario Bros. 2 game worldwide. The game shipped in Japan back on July 28, and then rolled out in Europe (August 17), Australia (August 18), and finally in the United States (August 19). The international launches led to the coin tally of 36,411,918,144 — and 150 million extra lives — as of Monday, August 20.
