Pop Band AAA Covers One Piece's Theme, Acts in TV Special
posted on by Egan Loo
The music label Avex announced on Friday that the seven-member pop group AAA is covering the One Piece anime's first opening theme song "We Are!" for the anime's two-hour August special. In addition, Takahiro Nishijima, a vocalist for AAA and a longtime One Piece fan, will make his voice-acting debut in the special.
Nishijima has appeared in the historical live-action television series Taira no Kiyomori and in other television and film works, but the upcoming One Piece special is his first attempt at voice-acting. The band's "We Are!" cover will be available as a ringtone starting on July 25. It will then be one of the songs on the band's next album's, 777 ~Triple Seven~, on August 22.
The One Piece Episode of Nami: Kōkaishi no Namida to Nakama no Kizuna (One Piece Episode of Nami: Tears of a Navigator and the Bonds of Friends) special will recreate the story arc about the home village of the pirate crew's navigator Nami with new animation. AAA previously contributed theme songs to the live-action Initial D film, InuYasha: The Final Act, and Sands of Destruction.
