Cobs' Valentine Anime Character Survey
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
The Japanese portal site Cobs Online posted the results of a survey of the anime and manga characters that people want to give chocolates to, and receive chocolates from. In Japan, women give chocolates to men on February 14, and men return the favor on White Day (March 14).
Between December 7-13, Cobs asked its users which character they want to give chocolates to — and receive chocolates from. The results from the self-selected pool of 410 male and 590 female respondents are as follows:
Anime Characters I Want to Give Chocolates to
- 1. Rui Hanazawa (Boys Over Flowers) - 20.9%
- 2. Shinichi Chiaki (Nodame Cantabile) - 14.2%
- 3. Hisashi Mitsui (Slam Dunk) - 10.0%
- 4. Ashitaka (Princess Mononoke) - 9.7%
- 5. Shōta Kazehaya (Kimi ni Todoke) - 9.5%
Anime Characters I Want to Receive Chocolates from
- 1. Fujiko Mine (Lupin III) - 16.8%
- 2. Minami Asakura (Touch) - 12.7%

The Japanese music distributor Recochoku also posted the results of its similar annual poll last week. Gintama's Gintoki Sakata topped that survey for "Anime Characters I Want to Give Chocolates to," and K-ON!!'s Mio Akiyama ranked first in the "Anime Characters I Want to Receive Chocolates from" poll.
