2011 Tokushima Awa Odori Poster Sold for Quake Charity
posted on by Egan Loo
The anime studio ufotable produced a new promotional poster for this year's Awa Odori event in the southern Japanese city of Tokushima, and for the first time, this year's poster will be sold to support charity efforts for the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake (Higashi Nihon Daishinsai) disaster.
This year's poster will feature many anime characters as drawn by Takashi Takeuchi (Fate/Zero), huke (Black Rock Shooter), Satoru Nakamura (Ghost in the Shell), Tomonori Sudō (Kara no Kyōkai - the Garden of sinners), and others. Many of the participating creators and studios were involved in May's Machi-Asobi Vol. 6 event, which was also held in Tokushima.
500 copies will be hung in local shops and tourist areas to publicize the cultural event. However, an unspecified number of copies are being produced to be sold for a donation of 1,000 yen (about US$12) or more. All proceeds, excluding 500 yen (US$6) for expenses, will go towards the quake area. The poster will be available at Animate chain stores nationwide (including in Tokushima), the ufotable cafés in Tokyo and Tokushima, ufotable dining, and the Good Smile Café.
